This course presents information on the scope and intent of CMS' psychosocial survey process. Beginning with the four levels of resident interview capability, the presenter then reviews, with case examples, the levels of severity that come into play in the survey process. Citing environmental indicators of compliance, interdepartmental interventions for treating depression, ways the IDT can address areas of the survey (including references to all relevant MDS items), participants will develop a better understanding of how to promote positive psychosocial outcomes, and avoid the unnecessary f-tags. The thrust of the course is on developing proactive steps to create an environment conducive to psychosocial well being and one that accommodates resident needs.
