Beginning a Mental Health Practice in Nursing Homes (PD101c) 3rd of 4-part Series - Clinical Issues

By Joseph M. Casciani, PhD

(02:30:00 hours)

Focus:

The number of older adults who reside in nursing homes and LTC settings is rising quickly, and is projected to grow faster than any other cohort group in U.S. history. With this demographic shift comes a unique OPENING for skilled, dedicated professionals, including mental health professionals. CoHealth is presenting a 4-part series of 2.5 hr. seminars to give practitioners the tools, resources, and training necessary to START A PRACTICE in nursing homes. Training is conducted online, so you can conveniently participate from home or office, using a phone and computer with internet connection. Class size is limited to ten. Tuition includes a syllabus for each class (documentation tools, templates, test materials, contracts, etc.), audio recordings of each class, four staff inservice modules, Certificate of Completion, and one-on-one follow-up consultation with our Clinical Advisory Board on behavior medicine, Medicare policy, psychopharmacology, clinical management, and rehabilitation topics. For added value, marketing assistance is part of the package, whereby prospective worksites are contacted on our graduates' behalf. Assistance with documentation reviews and/or billing are add-on options.

This is a complete package, teaching you how to contract for services, build caseloads, bill and be reimbursed for your services independently. Upon completing this series, practitioners will be able to develop a quality, informed, and independent practice in NH's, with a steady, predictable income not impacted by managed care. CE credit is available. Special incentive: Students who register for all four classes will receive a REBATE OF 15% OFF the full tuition cost. The presenter, Dr. Joseph Casciani, has worked as a geropsychologist since 1982. For 16 years, he was clinical director of a multi-state, mental health group, where he was responsible for program development and the delivery of clinical services in what eventually became over 1,000 LTC facilities, and a network of over 200 licensed professionals, prior to his leaving to start Concept Healthcare in 2007.

CLASS 3 of 4: Clinical issues, assessment measures (testing for psychological, cognitive, behavior, rehab functioning) and screening tools, billable and non-billable testing, developing treatment plans, treatment approaches (individual, family, and group), specialty psychotherapy groups, management of problem behaviors, and the clinical use of health and behavior codes.

Audience: Psychologists, LCSW's, and Post-graduates Working toward Licensure
